The Malaysian Cultural Show – Malaysia, Truly Asia themed   Leave a comment

As this is the concert or more a cultural show for our overseas visitors to the 24th FAPA Congress 2014 Penang, it shall deemed uncivilized to shoot from the stage even as official photographers. I shot from quite a distance from the stage. I was shooting from the Clansmen Temple of the Khoo Kongsi at Canon Square, George Town, Penang. As usual, with the early sign of Alzheimer setting in, I forgot my tripod or perhaps it was too heavy to tug along with me. Anyway, I make do by setting my camera, Canon EOS 5D Mark III with 70 – 200 mm lens, on top of the stone turban of the Sikh statue at the Temple. An excellent support I should say myself. The resulting products are displayed for your view. Hope you like these hand-held photos of my night photography outing or rather assignment.

First Day of FAPA 2014 Congress continues   Leave a comment

First Day of FAPA 2014 Congress continues to the Opening Ceremony at the Fort Cornwallis but the VIPs were not available as there was an Exco Meeting in progress. I do not stay for the completion of the Opening Ceremony as I was called by Kelvin Lim – the leader of the Wayang Models at Pinang Peranakan Mansion. There was some minor confusion of the booking time schedule at the Pinang Peranakan Mansion – one party said is between 2pm and 4pm while another party said it is between 4pm and 6pm. I had to rush to the Pinang Peranakan Mansion to settle the issue. It was settled but the Nyonya models were started to make up only and shall probably be late for their modelling sessions. Next stop was QE II with even a bigger fiasco happening to burst. Firstly, the venue was too small to cater for over 400 persons and to make matter worse, the food was simply not enough. In my opinion, the establishment had no past experience to cater to these numbers. The food was not fast enough to be replenished and thus we received uncooked food too towards the end. A valuable lesson is needed to be learnt here – NEVER give a job to INEXPERIENCED caterer. To simply put it, never ask a boy to do a man’s job!
