Commencement of Poh Hock Seah’s Flame Watching or Chneah Hoay Ceremony   Leave a comment

The Taoist Priest started the morning session of prayers at around 11.00 am. Lunch of dried oyster brooth followed. After lunch, another Taoist Priest led the prayers and after obtaining approval from the Twa Peh Kong, the wooden image was transferred from the main altar to portal altar by the Poh Hock Seah President Dato Lin Chooi Beng. Gongs and the drum were beaten to a loud pitch and volume. A small procession led by a Chingay flag started off towards Kuan Yim Teng, down China Street and Beach Street. The Procession turned into Victoria Street and headed towards Komtar along Magazine Road. It stopped in front of Traders Hotel where the Chingay flag, Hneoh Thay were placed on top of a lorry and proceed to Tanjung Tokong where the Chneah Hoay or Flame Watching Ceremony will take place later that night.
