Kumpulan Minang Moh (Negeri Sembilan) is of the Orang Temuan group, one of the indigenous groups in Malaysia. Steep in tradition, the Orang Temuan group is still keeping their culture very much alive and this is reflected in Kumpulan Minang Moh’s music. They will be performing songs and dances accompanied by traditional instruments which are mostly hand-made.

Queen Elizabeth cruise ship docked at Port Swettenham, George Town, Penang, Malaysia   2 comments

I was an early sunrise shooting yesterday, Monday 26, March 2012 at Tanjung City Marina at 6.30 am in the morning with Mr Fong aka Foley Hits. Queen Elizabeth cruise ship was calling at Port Swettenham Terminal also at 8.00 am yesterday too as added bonus. It was sailing from Singapore to Dubai sector. However, the most funny thing was that I learnt this piece of news from my Facebook friend Mr Detlef Gross from Germany. His message read as follows ” A challenge for taking some good shots. Queen Elizabeth will arrive at Penang on next Monday at 8:00 a.m. Friends of mine are on board of the ship. Departure time is 5 p.m. Best regards Detlef ” He was incidentally a passenger on Queen Mary II when it docked in Penang in February 2010. I happened to have taken a photograph of him and I had posted on Facebook then. He saw it and contacted me for a copy which I had promised him but did not get around to it until a few days ago. Well, the world is definitely becoming smaller and friendier with such social networking.

Early Cheng Beng prayers for my late wife   Leave a comment

I held an early Cheng Beng or Qing Ming Prayers for my late wife this morning at the niche at Wat Chaiyamanggalaram Buddhist Temple. As Buddhist, one did not hold strongly to the Chinese Lunar dates and I was right as there were also a few groups of fellow Buddhists offering prayers earlier than me on this morning. I offered her favourite chicken rice with her favourite breast meat and her sugarless local coffee or kopi-o. However, I burnt some joss papers just in case she “needed” this. It had been 27-plus months of her untimely demise.

Strolling around Straits Quay at Penang with a visit to the Library   Leave a comment

Feeling lazy to tug along my DSLR camera and back=pack sized bag, I took my point-and-shoot cheapie camera worth RM299.00 into my pocket. I am going to Straits Quay to test the food & beverage outlets. After strolling along the mall, I picked the choice of the Library – yes, a restaurant/pub not for the dedicated book-worms. Set lunch was value for money at a price not exceeding RM18.00 per pax. Food was good.
