Our second day in Jeju, South Korea started early with a quick breakfast at a cafetaria some distance away and not at the hotel itself. After the breakfast, we were on our way to the Jeju Folk Village where the famous Korean TV series of a Palace maid of olden days in Korea, were shot in this place. A green park with beautiful trees and flowering shrubs but it was after winter thus some trees were still not budding as yet. However, there was beauty in these “skeletal” trees in my opinion. According to the Korean Tourist Guide Mr Lee, there are abundance of female population in Jeju than the male who were sent to war or lost at sea as some were fishermen. There is an absence of petty thieves on the Jeju Island and some items that were carelessly left behind by tourists can still be found some hours after. There is also an abundance of rocks – of volcanic nature. After about 1.5 hour at the Jeju Folk Village, we were on our way to Seongan Sunrise Peak. I was so engrossed in shooting the beautiful scenery and of the limited time at the place, I did not reach the peak. About half-way, I turned left and walked towards the cliff but also had no time to hike down to the beach. I had to be contented shooting from the cliffs.

From Wikipedia :-
Jeju Province (officially the Jeju Special Self-governing Province is one of the nine provinces of South Korea. The province is situated on and coterminous with the nation’s largest island, formerly transliterated as Cheju or known as Quelpart to Europeans. Jeju Province lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province, of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. Its capital is Jeju City.

The island contains the natural World Heritage Site Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes.Jeju Island has a temperate climate and even in winter, the temperature rarely falls below freezing point. The interest in Hallasan, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, and the Geomun lava cave system emphasized the value and importance of academic, cultural and ecotourism-related features. Thus, in June 2007, on the Natural section of the World Heritage Site, Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes were registered.
