Waterless Waterfall of Sri Perigi   Leave a comment

Waterless Waterfall of Sri Perigi near Gurun, Kedah was seen as the current drought in the country. There is already declared water rationing in the States of Selangor and Negri Sembilan in central part of Peninsular Malaysia due to the very serious water shortage. If there is no rainfall for the next 2 months, the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia in States like Perlis, Kedah and Penang will also face the same fate of water rationing.

New Penang Second Bridge opened to traffic   Leave a comment

New Penang Second Bridge opened to traffic on the 1st. March, 2014 marked by a whole Day Carnival and the Penang Bridge Opening Ceremony by the Prime Minister of Malaysia at 8.00pm. First 1,000 motorists crossing the Penang Second Bridge got their Certificate to hang in their cars, …oophs on their walls of their dwellings.
The Second Penang Bridge is named after the present Agung (King) of Malaysia from the State of Kedah, the Sultan Abdul Halim Mua’dzam Shah Bridge.
This series of photographs was taken of the Second Penang Bridge on a hazy Sunday afternoon 2/3/2014 as there is a free one month’s period of crossing the Bridge free-of-charge. Though it is said that it is free to cross the Second Penang Bridge, it is quite costly for me today owing to the jam back to Penang Island – so in total cost me about RM80.00 with lunch without kangkung at Tambun (RM 60), Highway Toll and the First Penang Bridge Toll (RM7.80 ) and Petrol (RM15) as I had to take the Penang First Bridge back to Penang Island to avoid the jams if I use the Penang Second Bridge to go back to Penang Island!

Mural Exhibition by Ernest Zacharevic at old Hin Company Bus depot, Penang   Leave a comment

The Lithuanian artist Mr Ernest Zacharevic held his solo exhibition showcasing his over 20 brand new murals and installations at the old Hin Company bus depot in Jalan Gurdwara, Penang. As I could remembered, the Hin Bus Company – coloured in blue, usually plied the George Town and Tanjung Tokong, Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferrughi and finally at Telok Bahang. We usually took bus from George Town for 25 sen/cents to Tanjung Bungah Bus Station, if we planned to go hiking to Muka Head or Pantai Kerachut with our class-mates or our fellow scouts from 7th.George Town ( South ) of Penang Free School. We changed bus at the Tanjung Bungah small bus stand, buying another 25 sen/cents bus ticket heading towards the “end-of-the-world” at Telok Bahang.
Back to the current topic of the Exhibition after straying off with old man’s nostalgic memories. The exhibition is entitled ” Art is Rubbish / Rubbish is Art “ was held daily from noon till 8.00 pm daily until 14th February, 2014.
