Event Date : 31 Mar 2015 – 30 Apr 2015

Effective 1 Jan 2015, Penang is elevated from municipality to a City, which marks a momentous and exciting occassion in the history of Penang. There will be a month-long celebration in Penang, with programme ranging from a city’s historical exhibition, a photography exhibition to an outdoor concert with a series of performances featuring a few of Penang’s finest performers to showcase Penang’s unique and colourful heritage.

City Day
City Day will feature a few of Penang’s finest performers, including singers, dancers and comedians, showcasing its unique and colourful heritage. Performances of the evening will include:
A duet by Dasha Logan, the daughter of the late Logan Arumugam and her uncle, David Arumugam. Logan and David Arumugam were two of the founding members of the beloved Malaysian band, Alleycats.
Performance by Boria master Pak Omar’s celebrated troupe, Boria Omara, performing a unique form of Malay theatre, featuring elements of poetry, song, dance and comedy, that originated in the Jawi Pekan community of Penang.
A Nyonya fashion show featuring 16 models in antique baju kebaya.
Performance by Penang actress and performer Chelsia Ng.
Performance by James Boyle, son of the famous Penang-born performer Jimmy Boyle.
8-minute fireworks display

*Jalan Padang Kota Lama will be closed from 12am 4 Apr 2015
