Photo 101 ~ My 10 Favourites from the Course   18 comments

Photo 101 ~ My 10 Favourites from the Course

I had finished the Photo 101 Course with a daily post for more than 20 continuous days. In face of some obstacles like having no internet for nearly 16 hours, unstable internet in my area, the unfortunate incident of my dogs “biting incident” resulting with my two bitten fingers on my left hand and the heat wave in the country with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius, everything ended favourably. If there is a will, there is a way unless one kick the bucket.

Some facts I discovered and learned from the bloggers/photographers are :-

1. The thinking and subsequent action on the given theme is not always the same with the participating bloggers. True, as every human being is different from each other, thus we are see an array of different photographs uploaded on their individual blog. Different thinking on the theme so we have different photographs.

2. Every blogger is usually a loving, caring, kind, compassionate person with the place of residence that is generally peaceful and beautiful in nature. I had seen so many beautiful places, buildings, landscapes, animals, birds, sea creatures, flowers and other interesting things which in my life-time I shall have no time or opportunity to travel and see due to my matured age. Thank you for all these lovely and informative photographs that are shared on these blogs.

3. I was just wondering why the current troubled world cannot emulate the blogosphere we have here – peaceful, loving, friendly, diverse, harmonious and caring community of people from different countries, ideology, religions and culture. War, human conflicts, terror, global warming and climate threats shall result in more problems and troubles for us on this only home we have – Earth.

I end here and crawl back into my tiny space of peace and harmony with my pets. Bye, my fellow bloggers, photographers, viewers, friends, and the people of this planet.

Hooray! You made it.
(Virtual) high-fives all around! Congratulations on finishing Photography 101 — we’re so happy you joined us for this photo-a-day journey this month, and hope that the daily themes and tips inspired you.

End of Photo 101

A quiet moment among feluccas on the Nile River in Cairo, Egypt.

Feel free to sit back and take it easy this weekend. But if you’re itching for a bit more, consider these projects as we wrap up the course:

Browse your collection of shots from the course, select up to ten favorites, and publish a wrap-up post with a gallery.
Look through your shots to see which themes and tips you enjoyed the most. Did you take a lot of establishing shots? Close ups? Abstract images? Great color shots? Compile your favorites in a post.
Pick one element we covered during the course, then head out with your camera to practice: composition, light, movement, color, or something else of your choosing.
Revisit the themes. Are there any themes you’d like to try again? What would you do differently? What have you learned?
Want to explore photography topics in more depth? Browse the “Craft of Photography” topic on The Daily Post. You can also download our Photography 101 e-book, which compiles resources and tutorials from various photographers on WordPress.com.

The Commons will remain open for posting and commenting for one more week, so you can catch up on anything you’ve missed.

Thank you for joining us this month!

Cheers,
Josh and the WordPress.com Team

Mural Exhibition by Ernest Zacharevic at old Hin Company Bus depot, Penang   Leave a comment

The Lithuanian artist Mr Ernest Zacharevic held his solo exhibition showcasing his over 20 brand new murals and installations at the old Hin Company bus depot in Jalan Gurdwara, Penang. As I could remembered, the Hin Bus Company – coloured in blue, usually plied the George Town and Tanjung Tokong, Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferrughi and finally at Telok Bahang. We usually took bus from George Town for 25 sen/cents to Tanjung Bungah Bus Station, if we planned to go hiking to Muka Head or Pantai Kerachut with our class-mates or our fellow scouts from 7th.George Town ( South ) of Penang Free School. We changed bus at the Tanjung Bungah small bus stand, buying another 25 sen/cents bus ticket heading towards the “end-of-the-world” at Telok Bahang.
Back to the current topic of the Exhibition after straying off with old man’s nostalgic memories. The exhibition is entitled ” Art is Rubbish / Rubbish is Art “ was held daily from noon till 8.00 pm daily until 14th February, 2014.

Re-branding with a new long-winded name of my Blog – S.P.’s Space of 6T’s – Taste, Theatre, Thoughts, Time, Travels and Treatments   Leave a comment

S.P.’s Space of 6 T’s
Why the long-winded name for my BLOG at WordPress.com
1. Taste = Food, drinks be it exotic, spicy, hawkers’ fare, anything edible food items,
2. Theatre= Concert, Wayang or Chinese Opera, Puppet Shows, Gotai, Cultural Shows, Snake Show, Dog,Cat and Horse Shows, Short Film Fest like Tropfest, photographs of Wayang aka Chinese Opera are among the largest in the Asia and perhaps, the world, as I sill have thousands un-posted in my photo archives,
3. Thoughts = my opinion on current issue may be political, non-political, any issue and subject under the sun, hobbies,
4. Time = subjects on historical issues and things, heritage buildings and related items, antiques, collectibles, watches and clocks, age, historical facts – distorted or real, family ties, family tree, Penang Cultural History, multi-racial and multi-religious events in Penang and around the region,
5. Travels = holiday travels within Malaysia and if lucky overseas – hopefully under the sea and in space, in the polar regions if opportunity is given,
6. Treatments = as a retired Healthcare practitioner/Giver, it is my duty to share pharmaceutical and medical and even herbal remedial facts for those who are not well versed in these area as part as my contributory service to the community without obligation, I never image my one blog on “Sabah Snake Grass” has so much traffic and profitable to the vendors selling this herbs without any commission to me! If you do not like the article, please refrain from writing any nasty and insulting. I shall take great offense on these stupid and unwarranted comments! I hope you shall benefit from this short blogs of the contents therewith after consulting your doctors and seeking information on these herbs.
My current passion is photography and I shall try to post as many as possible on this blog but space on WordPress costs money but as a retired senior citizen, I shall try to maximise the usage as much as possible with minimum cost. Assist me to purchase the photo stocks that might interest you here in this blog.
So please help me to achieve my this year’s target of getting 150,000 VISITORS to my blog – S. P.’s Space of 6 T’s – Tastes, Theatre, Thoughts, Time, Travels, and Treatments.

My sincere thanks and Kamsiah (thank you in Hokkien – a Chinese dialect) from a ever grateful Senior Citizen.
