Extracted Hong San’s ( in most colourful T-shirt ) comments :-

” Dear Friends,

It was my pleasure to pick the tab especially to celebrate the birthday of HE ( Hock Eng ). I just hope everyone enjoyed the “overseas” lunch and looking forward to more of such gatherings. I appreciate very much the camaraderie that many will just envy.

Wishing everyone good health and for a prosperous 2018.

Hong San ”

I took the liberty of adding the comments on Penang Lang Whatsapp Group:

From Kenneth Oh ( the one in light blue floral shirt below):-

” Thanks  Teong Seng and Hock Eng for organising our get-together, Sing Hoong for driving us there and the birthday touch foe HE ( Hock Eng ) with a nice mango cheese cake, Ban Bee for also driving us and extending our mainland visit with a tour of ECO World’s show units, Hong San for your kind generosity in treating us all this sumptuous lunch, and Poh Weng and Saw Chin for opening their house for those of us who stayed on for the best home toasted home-brewed coffee, best home-grown star fruit and custard apple and other delightful treats. It was an enjoyable day out and I’m sure everyone’s happy with the warm fellowship. May the Birthday joy stay aglow and linger on our dear Taikor and stay healthy and safe, all of us.

Pardon me, Soo Peng ( blogger ), I knew at the back of my mind I’ve missed something … of course we can’t miss out that expensive RM15k (?!) camera … oops the cameraman too. Thx for lugging it along and taking our handsome 66+ yr young faces ( when looking back in the years to come). ”

Thank you the kind narration and comments.

    The Mangrove Swamps at Sunset

This was taken of the adjacent mangrove swamps at Bukit Tambun at sunset. We were enjoying the seafood at this small fishing village after a day’s trip to Ipoh for photo-shooting and eating pleasures. Ipoh is well-known like George Town, Penang for the delicious food too.

After roadtripping through Utah’s surreal geological landscape last year, I bought a US National Parks pass and vowed to explore more of North America’s parks. There’s just so much to see.

On a recent hike up Ryan Mountain in Joshua Tree National Park, I saw panoramic views of Southern California’s desert dotted with Joshua trees, rocky formations, and mountains far off in the distance:

For this week’s challenge, share a photo of a landscape: a wide establishing shot of a scene in nature or an urban setting. Landscape photography is typically displayed in a horizontal orientation; before getting started, read photographer Jeff Sinon’s tips on composition and finding the best shot.

For inspiration, browse our editors’ picks in the landscape category of Discover.

The boat trip to Pulau Aman was not fulfilled   1 comment

We thought of going over to Pulau Aman but were deterred by the rainstorm coming from the direction of George Town. It shall be a fruitless photoshoot with the heavy rain as we were caught unprepared with no rain-coats for ourselves and our cameras. Bertrand was more prepared with a personal rain-coat. There is always another time even with RM6.00 per trip fares – we are not “cheap-skates” if you want to know. We had a good seafood lunch and we were back to Penang Island in the heavy rains.
