This is the second night I am photo-shooting here at the aging Cantonese Opera in poor lighting condition. Perhaps this is the last time that I shall be shooting here.

First Night of the Cantonese Opera

First Night of the Cantonese Opera of 2016  marked the Opening Congratulatory Tribute to the Taoist King of Hades during this Festival of the Hungry Ghost at this location in Penang. Last night was the 10th day of the Seventh Moon of the Chinese Lunar Calendar (12th August, 2016).

This is the only Cantonese Opera Troupe from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia thus our very own local Troupe. However, sad to say this Troupe, according to the Lady Owner, is smaller in size than last year. From my observation of my photo-shooting over last 5 years, the performers are aging steadily and the musicians too. If there is no younger performers taking over, this Troupe, at  best, will last another few years more. It is sad but definitely true.

The Royal Concubine ended his misery by clobbering him with the golden wine jug on his head. “

I wanted to continue with Hokkien Chinese Opera at New Lane tonight ( 08.08.2016 ) but taking a rest is better for me to gain stamina and motivation to photo-shoot till end of the Festival of the Hungry Ghost. Good night as I am going to bed.

The Second Night of Wayang Photo-shooting

This is the Second Night of Wayang Photo-shooting but I only took a short hour to capture the performance as I was not in a good mood owing to very unfair comments of calling other photographers. There is a Public Wayang schedule compiled by Hungry Ghost Festival Committee so nothing is secretive about the Wayang Performances in Penang and Mainland at all! Whoever photographers that appear at these Wayang Performances are no problem of mine at all! Anyway these Wayang Performances are open to the members of the public. Furthermore, I was never keen in the photo-shooting of the Wayang performers putting on make-up.

I made a bee-line for the Chew Jetty at Weld Quay, Penang to shoot the last Sunrise of 2013 as today was the 31, December 2013. However, this was not to be a significant sunrise as the sun was shy to appear owing to thick hazy and cloudy condition. Though somewhat disappointed with the weather condition, I did shoot a series of photographs using my Canon EOS 70D and Canon EOS 5D Mark III using different lens and settings. Though I brought two tripods, I forgot my Manfrotto clamp so ended using a shaky tripod for some HDR photography as the wooden board-way of Chew Jetty was shaking a bit as the incoming waves were pounding the wooden stilts softly amd gently. Hope you like these photographs as the yacht in the distance was leaking and leaning sideways due to sinking slowly into the sea.

Having been used to full-framed DSLR, photos taken by non-fullframed DSLRs seemed noisy … cannot be pampered at all in life.
