Prayers’ Session at Poh Hock Seah, Penang

This is the Prayers’ session at Poh Hock Seah, Penang on occasion of the Birthday Celebrations of the Temple’s God of Prosperity (Twa Peh Kong). The Lor Choo (Urn Keeper of the Year) prayed for better health as he was having a flu currently.

Taking a short break   Leave a comment

Going slower on my photography as my right hand is painful and slightly swollen for the whole week. Can hardly carry anything heavy nor operate my fingers efficiently. Anyway I took only mediocre and sub-standard photos. Maybe Sony or Fujifilm mirrorless cameras are calling me to switch to less heavier equipment or to give up photography all together and take a lesser strenuous hobby instead.

At one stage I cannot even use the mouse to click. Yes, I am getting old at 64.

Duke Medicines 007Health is a condition which we generally ignored until we are stricken down by a disease or an accident.

Penang Free School Class 1964 -1970 Gathering at OFA, Penang on Sunday 22nd March, 2015 was the final reunion of the week. Ending the busy intense week-end of Reunions, Gathering and Fellowship – exOfficemates, Photographers and Classmates of PFS, I was inflicted with sore throat and voiceless/pharyngitis ( not due to karaoke ) with slight fever due to bacterial infection. Hopefully it is not dengue fever which cases is rapidly raising in urban areas. Even my tenant caught the disease on the beginning of this month and had to be hospitalized. Luckily he recovered safely.

Tried to be clever to try the natural holistic approach by taking coconut water, barley water, Chinese herbal tea, etc etc but maybe due to my Senior Citizen age it shall take time to work. My body defence was too weak. Anyway to cut it short, we must depend on modern medicines and treatment – advice from a retired pharmacist.

Nothing like a strong antibiotic with steroid to “finish off my bacterial” URT (Upper Respiratory Tract) infection after a visit to my doctor, recovering slowly with my osteoarthritis heel … so complete rest for me and missing a few meetings and the JCI Penang Installation 2015 so far. Luckily my lungs are all right and body temperature normal – ruling out Lower Respiratory Trat Infection like bronchitis and pneumonia. The normal temperature ruled out dengue fever.
.
Now on Klacid MR – Clarithromycin (modified erythromycin) and dexamethasone as doctor deemed the bacterial infection is quite severe. Though I was given a bottle of Cough Linctue – Sedilix – DM, I skipped using this as my cough was not too severe.

It was a double whammy as my heel was also stricken severe pain out of the blues. It was not gout but osteoarthritis. My take on osteoarthritis – take glucosamine as preventive as recommended by doctor and pain-killer when needed NSAID Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug – I use Diclofenac Na 50mg and better ones – Arcoxia (etoricoxib) use when needed basis only.

Yes, I am on the road to recovery and I shall take greater care of my health by shedding my extra pounds of fat and stop reading the on-line portals on the depressing current Malaysian political news.

Health
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the human condition. For other uses, see Health (disambiguation).
Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living organism. In humans it is the ability of individuals or communities to adapt and self-manage when facing physical, mental or social challenges. The World Health Organization (WHO) defined health in its broader sense in its 1948 constitution as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” This definition has been subject to controversy, in particular as lacking operational value and because of the problem created by use of the word “complete” Other definitions have been proposed, among which a recent definition that correlates health and personal satisfaction. Classification systems such as the WHO Family of International Classifications, including the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), are commonly used to define and measure the components of health.
Systematic activities to prevent or cure health problems and promote good health in humans are undertaken by health care providers. Applications with regard to animal health are covered by the veterinary sciences. The term “healthy” is also widely used in the context of many types of non-living organizations and their impacts for the benefit of humans, such as in the sense of healthy communities, healthy cities or healthy environments. In addition to health care interventions and a person’s surroundings, a number of other factors are known to influence the health status of individuals, including their background, lifestyle, and economic, social conditions, and spirituality; these are referred to as “determinants of health.” Studies have shown that high levels of stress can affect human health.

I would like to emphasis on the ability and freedom of movement here. We do not appreciate our good health and the ability to enjoy our movement with our able limbs like legs and hands. Recently. I suffered from joint pains from my pelvic bone and walking each step is a painful affair. Now, I know what is walking, running and jogging without effort and pain. We must enjoy our good health and take care of ourselves.

Good News ! I survived to fight another battle in future.   Leave a comment

The final blood test today at the General Hospital cleared me of dengue infection as my platelets has gone to normal after an all-time low of 120. No wonder I was disallowed to donate blood three weeks ago as my blood pressure was too high! Too high??? I was donating blood for over 20 times without any incident so I should have suspected something was brewing in my blood – like a bacterial or viral infection. Well, the final result matters, is to get well. I suffered last week with a throbing headache – which I shall describe as an elephant was running around in my brain. I never felt so intense a pain or headache as before in my 59 years of my life! So I survive to be ready for the Wesak Procession to be held on Tuesday, 17 May, 2011 to commemorate the Buddha’s Triple Blessed Day – His Birth, His Enlightment and His Passing Away ie 2555 years ago. Happy Wesak to all Buddhists.

My name is under wrap

Well, as I laid on the bed tossing and turning, I shall thinking of the past events and what the future shall hold for my sons, parents, siblings, relatives and friends in the usual order of selfishness. Past, I did my duty as husband and father to the best of the ablitiy if not 100% but definitely above 90%. My conscience is clear as I did what I have to done and the song ” My Way ” flashes into the mind. Yes, that shall be nice if I am singing this song the way downwards or upwards as the case dictates. A simple funeral is ample as my niche, next to my dearly departed wife, is already booked by me as I shall be cremated of course. Probably I need to buy the beautiful marble urn like my wife to keep my burnt ashes. As for future, there is no worry as both my sons shall able to live comfortably as my dear wife has planned that. They shall able to “harvest” my life insurances’ policies though small in value but still of some value. My siblings shall take care of my parents as they are still healthy. Now, it looks that I writing my last will and testament. Think positive as I advise my son’s collegemate recently as optimism has definitely a slight edge over pessism. Live well and busy for this week-end of 7 & 8 May, 2011. I hope I can able to photograph the Lion Dance Competition 2011 and the Charity for the Handicapped, Aged and Orphans at Han Chian High School Hall orgainized by our Wesak Celebrations Committee tomorrow night.
PS Please note our own “Ancestral Tablet” at the Kew Leong Tong Lim Kongsi has my name inscripted on the tablet but wrapped over with red paper. It shall be removed when I should “kick the bucket” or die, if the younger generation cannot decipher the saying. As a Scout myself, I believe in the motto of being ” Be Prepared ” in this case – my own demise.
