I was the only one at Tan Jetty to shoot the fireworks by the Floating Kuan Yin Temple, Hean Boo Thean, scheduled to be at 9.30 pm and 11.00 pm. However, I managed to shoot the first session only but not the later one as it was approaching 12.00 midnight. I left the Tan Jetty as cannot wait any longer as it is Chap Lap Meh (16th Night) and not Chap Goh Meh (15th Night) as the concert there is still in full swing which can be clearly across the incoming tide.

Hean Boo Thean Procession 2014   Leave a comment

Hean Boo Thean Procession 2014

When we left the house tonight (11th October, 2014), it was raining so heavily like last Friday. When we reached the road entrance to the 玄母殿(HEAN BOO THEAN) Temple, the rain slowly turned into a light drizzle when the Main Float came out while I put on my rain-coat. Got my other camera and placed under my rain-coat cap. I am off shooting the various floats along the main road, Weld Quay. A few minutes later, the rain stopped completely. What great blessings from Kuan Yin! After shooting a while, we are off to Paya Terubong in the heavy traffic as there is another event of the World Fellowship of Buddhists to record. More ever I am one of the Vice-Chairman of this organization.

Notice the “shy” Dragon with a plastic bag over its face.

Great entertainment at Hean Boo Thean’s Annual Dinner   Leave a comment

After a year of busy activities, it is time to let the hair down at the Hean Boo Thean’s Annual Dinner at Weld Quay, Penang. About 200 tables ( of 10 diners each table ) were laid out under canopies at the area near the Floating Kuan Yin Temple as it was still rainy season. We, the volunteer photographers, were allocated special table for photographers. Food and the entertainment were great and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

More Fireworks from the Floating Temple ~ Part 2   1 comment

More Fireworks from the Floating Kuanyin Temple ~ Part 2, this is the continuation of the previous series. The duration of these fireworks was so long that we had recorded a huge variety of various types of fireworks with different colours and shapes. Needless to stress, tripods are essential photographic equipment in these snap shots. I use the timer of the DSLR to lessen the camera shake though the wooden jetty was slowly rocking due to the incoming tide.
