At the water-hole   Leave a comment

At one of the water-holes of the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
One can see a hive of activities at the flowing water from a spring located at a village of Central Highlands of Vietnam. As it was early morning. some members of the hill tribe are collecting drinking water to be carried back home in polycarbonate bottles. A small boy was taking his early morning bath in the cold clear spring water and later with the mother’s assistance. Others are washing their clothes and blankets. As the hour ticked by, more and more members are seen here including an elderly lady. Please note that some of the photographs taken, are with the help of these paid models.

At the sand dunes in Mui Ne,Vietnam   1 comment

At the sand dunes in Vietnam
We had to walk 1 km along the cemented path to the sand dunes inside a village. Models were ready for us to photo-shoot. However the flowers were wrong as we do not sell Bougainvillea flowers at all and the lighting was unconducive due to dark clouds as no shadows can be created.

From Wikipedia:-

PhanThietMap.jpg.pagespeed.ce.M21KJ4uHGK
Each area of Phan Thiet has its own draw and unique characteristic:

The beaches at Tien Thanh ward and Ke Ga, stretching along the coast south of the city center, offer tourists a quiet, peaceful getaway. The community of Tien Thanh has only a few hundred residents, so there is very little traffic on the road and one can walk or drive along the coastline without having to dodge cars and motorbikes.

Unlike Nha Trang, there are only a few resorts and hotels along the beach in the Phan Thiet city center. Once tourists leave the area around their hotels and the resorts, they experience the hustle and bustle of a Vietnamese city. They can walk to many local restaurants and shopping malls, or visit the museum and school where Ho Chi Minh taught before he went to university in Paris.

Phu Hai ward is the site of the Thap Poshanu Cham Tower, built in the late 8th century. The ward covers a hilly area with a number of coves and small beaches. For this reason, many of the resorts in Phu Hai have a beach and cove all to themselves. Some are quite rocky, with the resorts built above the beach, rather than on the beach. Sea Links City, a complex of apartments, condominiums, a winery, a hotel and a golf course, is located here.

Ham Tien ward is the penultimate tourist strip, with hundreds of resorts, shops, restaurants, beach bars and spas built along the ten-kilometre-long stretch of Rang Beach. Those who want to be ‘where the action is’ should stay here as this is where they will find something to do 24 hours a day. The kite surfing craze began here, turning this into one of the top kite surfing destinations in the world. The community of Ham Tien has a few thousand residents and the area around the market is the only stretch without any resorts or hotels. The downside of Ham Tien is that the center of Rang Beach has eroded, so many Ham Tien resorts have no beach at high tide, as the water comes up to the sea wall.

Ham Tien is also the location of the ‘Fairy Stream’, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Phan Thiet. Over the centuries, a small stream has cut a canyon through the sand dunes. Since the dunes are multi-coloured, the walls of the canyon are very colorful.

Just beyond Ham Tien is Mui Ne. The ward consists of two communities and two beaches. The town of Mui Ne itself has about 25,000 residents. Guidebooks that usurp the name Mui Ne when talking about Ham Tien inaccurately refer to Mui Ne as a ‘fishing village’. The second community, Hon Rom, is a real village, however, as it has just a few hundred residents.

Mui Ne is the most populous community outside of the city center and the town is very lively, especially in the early morning when the fishing boats come in and in the early evening when residents go out for coffee or dinner at the many cafes and restaurants in the town.

There are resorts and restaurants along both Ganh and Suoi Nuoc beaches in Mui Ne ward. Resorts along Ganh Beach are all located on the east side of a cape whereas the town covers the west side of the cape. The word ‘Mui’ in Vietnamese means cape and ‘Ne’ means shelter. The locals call it the shelter cape, as they use the cape to shelter their fishing boats from the wind. People who don’t want to stay in the middle of a busy tourist strip, but want to be on a quiet beach yet close to a local community should choose to stay in a resort in Mui Ne ward.

Mui Ne ward is also where the orange sand dunes are located; on a hill between the town of Mui Ne and Hon Rom. The larger white sand dunes are located about 23 kilometres north of Mui Ne.

Phan Thiet is a year-round destination, though local operators make a distinction between the high (or “winter”) season and low (or “summer”) season. During the high season, which runs roughly from October to April, it is primarily northern Europeans who come here to escape the cold and dark winter and enjoy ideal conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing. During the low season, it is a popular destination for Vietnamese who want to escape the hot and steamy cities, as well as Australians and North Americans on holiday.

Remembering the old photo-shoot at Pinang Peranakan Mansion
This photo-shoot was during the FAPA 2014 in Penang. These photographs were taken about slightly more than one year ago at the Pinang Peranakan Mansion. Some of the photos in this series, I had just edited and add into the album. The models were paid to pose.
