Weekly Photo Challenge ~ Landscape

    The Mangrove Swamps at Sunset

This was taken of the adjacent mangrove swamps at Bukit Tambun at sunset. We were enjoying the seafood at this small fishing village after a day’s trip to Ipoh for photo-shooting and eating pleasures. Ipoh is well-known like George Town, Penang for the delicious food too.

After roadtripping through Utah’s surreal geological landscape last year, I bought a US National Parks pass and vowed to explore more of North America’s parks. There’s just so much to see.

On a recent hike up Ryan Mountain in Joshua Tree National Park, I saw panoramic views of Southern California’s desert dotted with Joshua trees, rocky formations, and mountains far off in the distance:

For this week’s challenge, share a photo of a landscape: a wide establishing shot of a scene in nature or an urban setting. Landscape photography is typically displayed in a horizontal orientation; before getting started, read photographer Jeff Sinon’s tips on composition and finding the best shot.

For inspiration, browse our editors’ picks in the landscape category of Discover.

SUNSET・LOVE LETTERS

給美麗的你:《惜陽》x《收信快樂》

檳城・臺北城市連線計劃

SUNSET・LOVE LETTERS is a Penang-Taipei double bill drama performance in the memorial of Wong Kuan Yuke, a thespian from Penang, who was developing his career in Taipei, passed away in early 2015.
11896096_917696694932679_1760410016650756168_n

SYNOPSIS

[ENGLISH]

PART 1: SUNSET(惜陽)was the first script written by Wong Kuan Yuke when he was still in Penang. It will be directed by penangpac’s Director-in-Residence Wong Lay Chin(黃麗珍)。It tells a story of a young man who meets a young girl at the end of his life under a sunset on a beach. They both struggle to live, but they learn from one another and begin to celebrate their lives, enjoying the beauty of sunset and not worrying about night.

PART 2: LOVE LETTERS(收信快樂)is a script adapted from A.R Gurney’s LOVE LETTER by popular Taiwanese thespian – Shan Cheng Ju(單承矩)。It is directed by Huang Wei Hsiang(黃瓘翔)from Lyric’s Studio(人从众集體創作体), a theatre truope that was established by Wong Kuan Yuke. LOVE LETTER is a simple but touching play, leading the audience to understand a friendship between 2 people through more than 70 letters they have been writing to each other in 40 years. To be featured in the next blog with photographs.

Time Tunnel – Sunset at QE2   1 comment

Time Tunnel This was the series of Sunset photographs which I took at QE2 – a food and beverage outlet near the City Marina, Weld Quay, Penang a few years back. Nowadays, I find it difficult to wake up early to capture such sunset photographs. Maybe, I shall attempt to shoot again in the near future.

Adding extra spice to Sunrise Photoshoot   1 comment

Getting bored with the usual scenery photos which seemed to be stereotyped. Well, add “spice” to them as shown by our master or sifu Christopher Harriot. How, you may ask? Well, the answer is simple, add filters either Cokin or even Lee or Singh-Ray filters. See the difference for yourself.

Sunset over the Indian Ocean, at Padang, Sumatera, Indonesia   Leave a comment

We were walking around the hotel area and chanced to see the beach with the appropriate time of the sun setting over the horizon. It was a beautiful sight to behold but the only problem was I was without a tripod to capture sharper images.

Well. something is better than nothing.
